Croydon Schools' U11s 125-8
Woking Schools' U11s 103A fighting eighth wicket partnership of 68 by skipper Daniel Lineker (Gilbert Scott) and David Scott (Woodcote) rescued Croydon Schools' Cricket Association's Under 11s in a friendly encounter against Woking Schools at Effingham Cricket Club last Thursday.

Croydon had looked in all sorts of trouble at 47 for 7, off 14 overs in this 30 overs-a-side repeat of the recent Surrey Schools' final, which had been won narrowly by Woking.

But Croydon moved on to 125 for 8, with Scott making 34 and Lineker 23 not out, when the innings closed. In reply, Woking struggled against some accurate Croydon bowling and smart fielding and Croydon emerged winners by 22 runs as Woking were dismissed for 103 in the last over.

Seven Woking batsmen were clean bowled as Croydon pinned down their opponents, giving them little respite, with only two of their batsmen reaching double figures. Vishal Khetia (West Thornton), one of no fewer than five players making their Croydon debuts, took a wicket with his first ball.

He was well supported by Danny Wilkinson (Atwood), Nickil Patel, Shamal Patel (both Cumnor House), Daniel Bhola (Winterbourne) and Andrew McGill (Gresham) who all took wickets.
