A man was stabbed with a samurai sword in West Croydon after being chased by a man.
The victim was chased on foot into the back gardens of Ainsworth Road in the early hours of Sunday morning.
A struggle ensued and the man was stabbed across the stomach. After managing to disarm his attacker, the victim staggered to Derby Road, where he called police.
He is currently in a stable condition at Mayday Hospital.
Meanwhile, a second man was chased along Parsons Mead by a car containing four people. He turned right into London Road and was able to get on to a bus.
There are no details of the car and there are no descriptions of the five suspects.
