Youngsters who dreamed of performing on a real stage had their wish granted.
The Younger Generation Theatre Group presented Britain at its Best from September 1 to 3 at the Ashcroft Theatre, Fairfield. It was an ambitious project by Diane Rexstrew who wrote and produced it.
The ethos of the group is there are no stars, every performer is important and a star in their own right. My only reservation with this is star quality really does shine through and some voices were far better than others, some dancers had natural grace and some actors had perfect comic timing and presence.
Highlights for me were We'll Meet Again sung by Bethany in the War Years section, The Sun and I by Anna and the energetic Three Little Maids from the Mikado in A Night at the Opera.
So much hard work on stage and behind the scenes delivered three hours of top entertainment young Croydon at its best.
