Merton school children have been granted full time access to the most in-demand PCSO with valuable lessons about safer communities.
Funding is secured and they have unlimited use of Merton police mascot PCSO Steve thanks to the efforts of PC Louise Vickers and Safer Merton’s joint tasking group.
PCSO Steve - who was previously in demand in many boroughs and sometimes not available for appearances - will be based at Mitcham police station.
Inspector Jon Phillips said: “This will give the children of Merton more opportunities to meet PCSO Steve and for important messages to be delivered in a fun and friendly way, as well as introducing pupils to their local safer neighbourhood team, thereby building stronger community links.”
