A road crash in north Kingston last weekend left a man hospitalised and his BMW wrecked after smashing into a 4x4 car.
The male driver, believed to be in his thirties was rushed to Kingston Hospital on Saturday morning after being involved in a accident with a range rover, at the junction of Duke's Avenue and Richmond Road.
The BMW's bonnet was wrecked by crash at about 9.45am on Saturday, March 28, and sand had to be laid out on the tarmac as a precaution against fire when oil spilled out of the car.
Lynsey Downs, an eyewitness, said: "A BMW was travelling from Kingston across the traffic lights and hit a Land Rover which was turning into the garage on the corner of Duke's Avenue and Richmond Road, which had been travelling on the other side of the road.
"Two fire engines were on the scene from the nearby fire station within minutes.
"Only the BMW's male driver was injured but he was conscious at the scene."
Kingston fire station scrambled two fire engines to the scene, as well as a specialist vehicle which contained cutting equipment in case anyone was trapped inside the car.
A spokeswoman from London Ambulance Service said: "We sent one fast responder vehicles and an ambulance crew to the scene, where our staff treated a man believed to be in his thirties, who was taken to Kingston Hospital."
