Two 17-year-old boys have been charged with the attempted murder of a fellow student at South Thames College, who was stabbed on the college steps in Wandsworth High Street on Tuesday.
The victim, 18, was knifed three times about 1pm and is still in a stable condition in hospital. His injuries are said to be “non life-threatening”.
A youth from north Lambeth and another from Belgravia are due to appear in youth court today.
Detective Inspector Cathy Page, of Wandsworth police, said: “The two were arrested as a result of enquires.
"There is nothing at this stage to link the incident to any gang issue at all. There is nothing in the motive to suggest it.”
A spokeswoman at the college said: “Emergency services were immediately called, college staff attended to the young man at the scene while awaiting their arrival.
“Police and ambulance services arrived promptly and the young man was conscious at the time of leaving the campus.
“The college is co-operating fully with the police in this matter.”
The spokeswoman said the college had a “rigorous security system” including a security barrier in the entrance and had a ‘no ID, no entry’ policy for all staff and students.
Four other youths, seen running away from the scene, were originally arrested in connection with the incident. They have now been released without charge.
