A leading councillor died suddenly after being found unconcious at his home on Friday.

Lindsay Frost, Croydon Council cabinet member for for health and adult social care, died in Mayday Hospital on April 2 after being found unconscious at his home in Croydon on Good Friday morning.

Chief executive Jon Rouse expressed deep sorrow at the sudden death of Mr Frost the councillor for Ashburton Ward.

Mr Rouse said: “Councillor Frost’s death has come as a shock to everyone at the council. We are devastated for his wife and children and our thoughts go out to them. This tragedy must be extremely upsetting and we want them to be assured of our thoughts and sympathy.

“As the cabinet member for health and adult social care since May last year, Councillor Frost has been a leading member of the council. He will be missed both in his Ashburton ward and in the Town Hall."

Councillor Mike Fisher, leader of the council said: "This news will come as a terrible shock to all of those who knew Lindsay. He was a strong and determined man with a lovely family and his passing is a loss to us all. He made a huge contribution to the work of the council and he was committed to making a difference to the lives of the people he served."

Councilor Tony Newman, leader of the Labour group said: "Lindsay was a hard-working and dedicated councillor and a worthy opponent across the council chamber. He had respect from all sides and was passionate about Croydon and the people he represented. At this difficult time any political differences will always be put aside and our thoughts and wishes go out to his family."

Born in Hertfordshire, Coun Frost spent most of his youth in the rural environment of Hampshire, where he attended Farnborough Grammar School.

He went on to study English Literature and music at Lancaster University and Huddersfield School of Music.

For several years he worked as a freelance musician and producer before embarking on a career in the travel industry.

Lindsay met his wife-to-be Kerri-Ann in 1989 and they married in 1992. The couple have two children and have lived in Croydon since 1998.

Outside council activities, Lindsay was an enthusiastic collector of music and had an eclectic taste including classical composers, rock, jazz and pop.

He also enjoyed attending big rock concerts and was a great lover of cinema and cricket.
