A Wimbledon resident is making a marathon effort to help a disability charity.
Matthew Buckle is supporting the Livability organisation, which helps disabled people engage in every-day life and activities, through sponsorship for the 26-mile London Marathon on April 25. “Livability enables disabled people to have the freedom to enjoy life, knowing how important this is makes me determined to complete the course,” he said.
In preparation for the challenge, Matthew embarked on an intensive seven-month training programme, which he fitted in around his work and family commitments.
He runs at 6.30am every morning and trains for two hours almost every day at his local gym.
“It’s not only a personal challenge but a great way of raising funds for a fantastic charity,” he added.
Yvette Gillingham, events manager at Livability, said: “We are delighted that Matthew is running the 2010 Virgin London Marathon in support of the charity."
