This is the cutting edge new sensory therapy room for young patients at Springfield Hospital in Tooting.

The room is specially designed to created a relaxing environment, with gentle lighting, a light projector, bubble tube and musical beanbag seat.

Laura Craggs, nurse and project leader, said: “The kids have been involved all the way through the project, from helping us clear out the room to deciding exactly how they wanted it designed.

“They’ve been so excited and really enjoyed getting involved. It was just a store room before, a waste of space, but now it’s an invaluable resource for the ward.”

The, room, which was funded by the parents of a patient, was created in the Adolescent Resource Centre, which provides specialist 24-hour care to teenagers with severe mental illness.
