Members of the Rotary Club of Leatherhead offered blood pressure testing to the public last week as part of Stroke Awareness Day.

More than 50 people had their blood pressure taken, with about 12 being referred to their GP for further checks.

Rotary club members joined Dr Fred Meynen and Nurse Anne Titley from The Ashlea Practice in Leatherhead in undertaking the checks.

Stroke Awareness Day, on April 17, is an annual national collaboration between Rotary and The Stroke Association to raise vital awareness of stroke.

In many cases a simple blood pressure test can flag up the possible symptoms of a stroke at an early stage.

The Rotary Club of Leatherhead meets at 7pm every Wednesday at Trattoria da Carlo in Fetcham. For further information, contact Simon Edmands on 07753 821964.
