Residents and businesses in Surrey are being asked to help shape up the county's new transport plan.

The plan, which aims to tackle issues including as parking, road safety, congestion and climate change will begin in April 2011.

Surrey County Council said a host of information would be used to help develop the plan, including findings from neighbourhood and national surveys, discussions with the business community, borough, district and parish councils and other interested parties.

Surrey County Council’s cabinet member for transport Ian Lake said: “We face challenging transport issues in the future so it is vital we are well prepared and have an effective plan in place.

“These issues concern all resident so it is important we hear their views to help us shape the future of transport in Surrey.”

The first stage of the plan ready for consultation is the Transport Climate change strategy can be viewed at surreycc.gov.uk/surreytransportplan until June 17.
