Q.What are your views on the MPs' expenses issue?

A.It is interesting to me that it took Heather Brooke (and other journalists) and a traditional broadsheet to break this story and all credit to them, and it shows how important an aggressive press is. Unfortunately locally the free newssheets do not campaign vigorously anymore and you hardly ever see a local reporter at local committee meetings or in particular the public local health authority meetings.

In terms of expenses I believe in restitution and contrition, and as a flawed individual I will not revel in the many good men and women who have been lost because they “had their hand in the till”. Unfortunately we seem to see in public service that once people start to earn over £50k they have an ethics lobotomy and start to become a public master.

Q.If you had to pick the single biggest issue you will campaign on as MP for the borough, what would that be?

A.When this question was raised last night (Sunday 26th) the conservatives got away with 3 but that shows their inability to count. So when you list one no one should suggest all the other important issues are not a concern. So yes St Helier is key but my number one must be: adaptable housing for the over 55’s with access to care when and if needed, the demographics of the population demand this and has huge positive knock-on effects eg freeing up family holes in the community. [ COI is that I am a project manager for a local charity also campaigning on this.

A.As I said last night this sort of question suggest that there is as a political elite that you join, we all are involved in politics as our right to vote has been hard won, I have served my apprentice through the trade unions, and sitting in local committee mtgs and then 26 days ago phoning up to find out who the CPA had running locally eth rest is history ……
