The Christian People’s Alliance was first out of the blocks to launch their council manifesto, which they hope will help them elect their first candidates in Kingston.

The CPA are fielding 27 candidates across the borough, and have focused their campaign around two central issues: delivering a Christian school for the proposed site in north Kingston, and slashing “ridiculous” salaries for senior council officers.

Susan May, candidate for the Richmond Park and North Kingston seat, said: “The only party in Kingston which spoke out against ridiculous pay rises of 17 per cent for top officers was the Christian People’s Alliance.

“That is despite the fact that Kingston is the smallest borough, with the lowest social burden of any council of London.

"If elected, the CPA favours the introduction of a maximum multiple between the best and worst paid staff in the borough.”

Manifesto highlights:

- 20 per cent cut in salaries paid to senior council officers

- Reduce speed limit on all minor residential roads to 20mph

- Ensure new secondary school in north Kingston is run as a church foundation school with a clear “Christian ethos”

- Promote abstinence and faithful marriage in school education
