Former bouncer and wheel clamper Levi Bellfield has been sent to the Old Bailey to face murder and kidnapping charges after a short preliminary hearing this morning.
Mr Bellfield, 41, appeared at Guildford Crown Court today via video link, wearing a navy blue Nike T-shirt.
In a hearing lasting 10 minutes, Mr Bellfield was not asked to enter a plea to the charges of kidnapping Milly Dowler and murdering her, or to a third charge of the attempted kidnapping of Shepperton schoolgirl Rachel Cowles the day before Milly went missing.
Asked if he was Levi Bellfield he said: "Yes, I am."
Asked if he could hear properly he said: “I can, my Lord.”
Judge Christopher Critchlow sent his case to the Old Bailey for a case management hearing on July 28.
