Old Meadonians finished their season as they began it with yet another draw, bringing their total to seven this season, at the Riverside on Saturday.

Albanians’ injury-time equaliser means the best Meads can finish this Amateur Football Combination campaign is fourth - but at least they have dragged themselves well clear of the relegation zone.

But, while Meads have the best defensive record in the league, only the bottom two sides have scored fewer goals.

Albanian successfully rode their luck to come from behind twice after Alex Smith had given the hosts the lead on the hour.

Their first equaliser five minutes later came from a penalty after centre back Liam Palmer left a leg dangling invitingly.

Meads continued to carry the fight to the visitors and benefited as Ed Glover headed back a Colin Hawkins cross for Alex Jones to tap in.

But Albanian punished Meads’ for a lapse of concentration with the referee looking at his watch.
