More than £5,000 of equipment designed to take the pain out of dealing with diabetes has been donated to Croydon Health Services by the Rotary Club Croydon Jubilee.
Club president Tony Rowland, who runs Rowland Brothers International funeral directors, handed over the two insulin pumps during a special ceremony on September 6.
The tiny pumps, which are smaller than most mobile phones, avoid the need for regular painful injections by constantly pumping tiny amounts of insulin around the body.
Croydon Health Services Diabetic consultant Richard Savine said: “We are very grateful to the Rotary Club of Croydon and everyone who has supported it in raising this money.
“These new pumps will make a big difference to our diabetic patients, giving them greater control over their blood sugar, therefore significantly improving their quality of life.”
