A children’s charity will host a 10 mile evening walk to raise money for youngsters with multiple disabilities.

BBC news presenter Nicholas Owen will officially start the first ever “Sleepwalk” event in aid of The Children’s Trust, based in Tadworth Street, Tadworth.

More than 200 walkers have registered to take part in the stroll under the stars at Priory Park, in Reigate, at 10pm on Saturday, September 25.

Mr Owen said: “Sleepwalk not only aims to raise money for The Children’s Trust, but will also raise awareness of the very important services the charity provides for some of the UK’s most severely disabled children.

“Because of their complex health needs, a good night’s sleep is a very rare luxury for these children - and it is the same for parents, who need to provide their child with round-the-clock care.”

He encouraged families, offices and schools to sign up and raise sponsorship money for the charity. Walkers will pay £15 registration, which will include a mini midnight feast and a “Sleepwalk” t-shirt and medal.
