A Walton woman accused of sending her ex-boyfriend threatening texts has pleaded not guilty to breaching a non-molestation order.
Kelly Ayres, 26, appeared at Staines Magistrates’ Court on Monday, September 6, charged with the offence, after being arrested by police the previous day.
Prosecutor Julian Hunt told the court Ms Ayres had received the order, prohibiting contact with her former boyfriend, from Kingston County Court on August 6.
However, the court heard the defendant sent two abusive texts messages to her ex on August 12 and August 24, regarding her lack of contact with their children.
Mr Hunt asked magistrates to release Ms Ayres, who had been in custody since her arrest.
He said: “She was not arrested by the police until yesterday. If the police were worried about her actualising the text, she would have been arrested sooner.”
Following similar arguments from Ms Ayres’ legal team, magistrates’ released her on bail.
She is due to appear at Guildford Crown Court on Tuesday, September 21, for a case management hearing.
