An ambitious fundraiser will attempt to run the entire 180-mile length of the Thames path in just one week to try and raise £10,000 for charity.

Nick Jackson, from Putney, plans on taking on the mammoth challenge in aid of the Teenage Cancer Trust on September 18.

The 30-year-old said: “Before this, I occasionally ran a short distance along the river from Putney.

“One sunny day I thought I’d see what was beyond Hammersmith Bridge, which is a couple of miles away.

“The more I saw of the river, the more it surprised me that I’d lived by the water for most of the last decade but hadn’t seen more than just a fraction of it.

“It occurred to me at that moment that I’d never heard of anyone who’d run the length of the Thames before. From that point on I couldn’t shake the thought of challenging myself to do it.”

Mr Jackson, a member of the charity committee for Sony Music, will be joined by workmate, Steve Smith, who will travel alongside him in a kayak.
