A Balham teenager is to see a garment she created showcased on the London Fashion Week catwalk this month.
Michelle Smith, 17, is one of 24 finalists in the 2010 Junior Awards, organised by creative charity Fashion Awareness Direct (F.A.D).
The pupil at St. Francis Xavier 6th Form College said: “Being part of F.A.D. has definitely helped me to decide what I want to do when I’m older.
“I know I want to do fashion design, but now I’m thinking of doing pattern cutting as well. It’s more practical.“ F.A.D. is a not-for-profit organisation supporting young people to bridge the gap between education and the fashion industry.
