A stained-glass window by a top British artist will be blessed by the Pope when he stays in Wimbledon this week.
The window at the apostolic nunciature in Parkside will be blessed by the pontiff, who is also set to hold a private mass in the building’s chapel during his say there from Thursday to Sunday.
The window, which is studded with rubies and ultramarines, was created by artist Brian Clarke.
Reacting to the news it would be blessed during the visit, he told the Daily Telegraph: “I'd said it wasn't really my bag: I'm definitely not holy. But the Papal Nuncio [the Pope’s ambassador] is a genuinely cool guy, he really is; he's everything you want in an archbishop.”
