Almost 5,000 Muslims gathered on Tooting Bec Common on Friday for their first open-air Eid prayer for almost 20 years.
The event, organised by Balham Mosque and Tooting Islamic Centre, was held at 10am in celebration of the end of Ramadan.
Following prayers, worshippers spent the rest of the day exchanging gifts with family and friends and enjoyed festive food.
Eid prayers are often held indoors, but because this year it fell during such a mild part of the year, they were able to be held outside.
The last time such an event was organised in Tooting was in the early 1990s.
Local MP Sadiq Khan, who attended, said: "The turnout at Tooting Common was amazing - there was a real carnival atmosphere.
"It was great to see almost 5000 local Muslim residents celebrating Eid ul-Fitr, and the sun coming out made the day perfect."
