With the colder autumn weather around the corner, vulnerable residents are being reminded about a special service to help them stay warm.
Lambeth Council’s free warmer homes project provides household visits from energy advisers to guide residents about ways to cut fuel bills and improve energy efficiency.
The service, run in partnership with the Greater London Energy Efficiency Network, is available until February 2011 and is designed to help homeowners and private sector tenants struggling to pay their fuel bills.
Advisers will suggest value-for-money fuel bills and tariffs, and lifestyle changes to help reduce energy use.
Councillor Lib Peck, cabinet member for housing, said: “In these cash-strapped times we’re doing all we can to help residents stretch their budgets.”
To be eligible for a visit, residents must live in either the Knights Hill, St Leonards, or Streatham Wells wards or be a householder older than 65 or on income or disability related benefits.
