Motorists have been warned to expect more rush hour delays in Kingston Hill for nearly two months.
Temporary traffic signals will be set up on Thursday, September 23, while major gas works are being carried out for a projected seven weeks.
The works will be situated at the junction of Warren Road and leading up to the junction at Coombe Park.
During that time, maintenance workers from Southern Gas Networks will be carrying out a large scale replacement of gas mains running beneath the road.
The disruption follows a summer of steady disruptions to the Maldens and Coombe neighbourhood, the latest being on Coombe Lane West in August, when Thames Water contractors cut Coombe Lane West down to a single lane for a week while they tackled a “non-visible water leak”.
That followed commuter headache caused by Transport for London’s roadworks on the approach to the A3 turnoff at Malden roundabout, due to a width restriction on the northbound slip round to Coombe Lane West.
