A teenager was repeatedly stabbed in an unprovoked attack in Mitcham last weekend.
The 19-year-old man was stabbed in the back several times in London Road just before 6pm last Saturday.
Police are still hunting his attacker, and want to speak to a woman who helped the victim immediately after the assault. The stabbing took place opposite the junction with Gorringe Park Avenue as the victim was walking home from Tooting.
Detective Constable Bob Black of Merton police said: "On the facts available this was an unprovoked attack on a young man who was simply walking home. Thankfully he is making a steady recovery. We are very keen to locate and arrest the person responsible."
The attacker ran off into Gorringe Park Avenue immediately after the stabbing. He is a light skinned or mixed race black youth, who was wearing a grey hooded top and dark trousers.
Anyone with information should call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 or Wimbledon CID on 0208 649 3137.
