A man had his £4,000 Rolex watch stolen from his wrist in a daylight robbery outside his barber shop.

Croydon police are appealing for witnesses to the robbery in Woodside Green on September 14, at 6.25pm.

The man, in his sixties, was closing up his barber shop for the evening when he was approached by two men.

One of the men stood watching while the other demanded he hand over his time piece.

When the man refused he was punched in the face and the watch was snatched from his arm, causing cuts and grazing.

The two robbers then fled the area in the direction of Stroud Road.

One of the men is described as wearing a grey hooded top while the other is believed to have been wearing a black hooded top.

Both men wore their hoods up and had their faces covered.

The man believes one of the robbers to be white as he saw his hands during the attack.

The barber believes the robbers may have been in his shop earlier as they appeared to target him specifically for his watch, which is believed to be worth £4,000.

Detective constable Louise Dovey from Croydon CID said: “I would appeal to anyone who was in the area at the time of the robbery to get in touch with me.

“Equally, if you visited the shop on the day of the incident you may be able to provide valuable information.

“Given the value of the victims watch it is highly likely that the suspects will try and sell it on, therefore, I would ask the public to contact the police if they are approached to buy it or similar items.”
