The Ryman League has extended the deadline for Croydon Athletic to find new owners until this Friday.
The original deadline was today with the League insisting the Rams, plunged into financial chaos when owner Mazhar Majeed had his assets frozen, had to prove they could fulfil their fixtures for the rest of the season.
While a rescue package has yet to be announced, the Ryman League has rearranged tonight's match at Aveley for Friday night in the hope the club can finalise their arrangements by then.
Ryman League chairman Alan Turvey warned though that the deadline will not be extended again.
“Every effort has been made to assist the club at this difficult time in the best interest of everyone," he said.
"It is unlikely the league will extend the deadline that has been given and that is fully understood by the club and all interested parties.
"The club must be able to demonstrate that it will be able to complete the current season and place a financial bond with the league prior to the deadline.”
