An actress from Tadworth will hit the big screen next year after getting her first break playing a seductive high priestess in psychological thriller The Stone.
Suzy Deakin, of Cheam Close, Tadworth, was working as a model for new paranormal magazine Haunted when she heard about the new British movie, written and directed by Philip Gardiner.
The 25-year-old was cast as the priestess and the ghost of a young girl who committed suicide, and has been filming at the supposedly haunted Annesley Hall, in Nottinghamshire.
She decided to use her new-found success to help good causes closer to home, and will produce a 2011 charity calender to raise money for The Children’s Trust, in Tadworth, along with Macmillan Cancer Support in memory of her mum Angela who died two years ago.
She has recruited bar El Papi, in the Oaks Square, Epsom, and the Albion pub, in High Street, Epsom, to sponsor the project, which she hopes will also help girls who want to break into modelling.
The actress said: “We have gained sponsorship for each month and the business to sponsor the month will have a photo shoot with the new models to advertise their business, and 100 per cent of the profits will be going to charity.”
Gardiner said he wanted an enthusiastic and gritty cast rather than Hollywood stars and divas. His film tells the story of five paranormal investigators who arrive at a medieval church and seek out the mysteries of life after death.
Ms Deakin said: “I lost my mum and had lots of personal things going on and was at a very low point, but thanks to Phil (Gardiner) and this film, my family and friends and everyone who has believed in me, I am now living the best dream ever.
“This is why I wanted to do the calender to give others the help and start that I was given.
“And although I wish my mum could be here to experience it all with me I know that she's with me in spirit and would be very proud.”
The Stone is due for release in June next year.
