Anna Macphie, 22, was presented with her Queen’s Guide award at a Belmont Guiding centenary event recently. The award was presented to her by Marion Perry, County Queen’s Guide adviser in the presence of MP Paul Burstow, County Commissioner Christine Wicks and her Mentor Arabella Bolton.
Anna, who is just about to start her third year at Liverpool University studying Geography, described some of her achievements in gaining the award – ‘For the service section, I became involved with the Hoylake Centre RNLI raising funds by carrying out a sponsored abseil down the side of the famous Liver Building. For my skill section, I worked towards my Yachtmaster Certificate which I hope to complete shortly’ said Anna. ‘In carrying out the various activities for the award, I have met lots of people and gaining the award will look great on my CV’ continued Anna. She has also become boating adviser for Liverpool South Guides demonstrating that she is now putting her skills to good use.
Belmont Guides were celebrating the centenary of Guiding with various displays of Guiding in Belmont over the past. They also renewed their Guiding promise and had various activities including dancing and camp fire singing.
