Sutton United Football Club has tuned in to a hospital radio station as their charity of the season.

Radio Marsden, who are now in their 41st year of providing Radio for both Royal Mardsen hospitals, Sutton and Fulham, will benefit from club fundraising efforts throughout the 2010/11 season.

The station, which receives no funding from the famous hospitals, relies on volunteers to keep the vital patient service running.

A Sutton united FC spokesman said: "We look forward to welcoming Radio Marsden at our community fun day on October 2 where they will be broadcasting from the event and be awarded with their charity of the season status."

Due to the success of their 40th anniversary FM community licence which allowed them to broadcast direct to the London Borough of Sutton for a month in 2009, the station has this month gone digital and can be found live on the Internet.

Live streaming allows patients and relatives to take part and hear the same shows even though they maybe many miles apart maintain a sense of togetherness for what is for many a very difficult time.
