Julian Speroni says the lack of clean sheets in the league this season was not on his mind before Saturday's goalless draw with Burnley.

The draw was Palace first shut-out in their seventh league game having conceded 12 in the previous six matches but Speroni had not been worried.

"The back four and myself always want to get a clean sheet," he said.

"It wasn't on my mind that we hadn't had one yet as I remember a few seasons ago I think we went 10 games without one and then they started coming all at once.

"The more we play together the more we get to know each other and the better we play.

"If you look back at the first few games of the season I think we played some very good football, we just need to be more clinical in front of goal.

"We are creating the chances and getting in the opponents box but not scoring."

Last Tuesday's win against Portsmouth and the draw with Burnley ended a run of five straight defeats and Speroni wants the team to continue their form into Saturday's trip to Derby County.

"It's important this Saturday to carry on our form and we want to go to Derby and try to win the game like we always do," he said.

"It's a difficult match as they haven't started the season very well and need the points as well."
