Some came wearing suits, others donned dresses - but the more adventurous trend-setters pushed the boat out by experimenting with more alternative fashion.
To celebrate Battersea Dogs and Cats Home’s 150th anniversary, costumed canines and their owners were invited to take part in an annual fancy dress competition in Battersea Park.
Sheridan Smith, star of the West End’s Legally Blond, helped judge more than 70 dogs who came dressed in top hats and tails, as cops and pirates and even a Great White Shark.
Sheridan said: “There were so many amazing outfits, choosing a winner was so hard.”
A Terrier decked out as a London cab impressed judges and came away with the top prize last Sunday.
After the competition visitors tucked into a dog-friendly birthday cake.
Chief executive Claire Horton said: “The annual reunion was a fantastic success. It was great to see so many people and well behaved dogs come together to commemorate Battersea’s 150th anniversary and be part of an occasion which celebrates the joys of owning a dog. Luckily the sun shone for us and everyone seemed to be having fun.”
