A whopping 2,500 people attended Richmond Park open day on Sunday, September 19.

The free event, organised by the Royal Parks, offered a wide variety of activities including Shetland pony rides and creative basket making.

Park Manager Simon Richards said: "Richmond Park open day is always very popular, but this year we have had more visitors than ever before.

"It was a great day out for the whole family and people of all ages enjoyed taking part in activities and trying new things.

"The team at Richmond Park work hard to preserve and protect this much-loved place and it was great to meet so many regular visitors and to hear about their experiences of the park.

"With the support of the Arriva buses heritage fleet, we were able to operate a free bus service around the park which was hugely popular.

"As ever the day could not have taken place without the support of huge numbers of volunteers and sponsors from the many organisations that support the Royal Parks."
