A green group has launched a free library of energy-efficient light bulbs to help villagers in Ashtead keep their bills down.
Transition Ashtead member Barrie Mould will visit homes with his special kit bag to help residents decide which bulbs suit their fittings best.
Eco-friendly users will be able to borrow different shapes, sizes and strengths for up to a week to work out which would be the best to buy in the shops.
Derek Smith, of Transition Ashtead’s energy group, said: “Our mission in life is to make Ashtead people’s houses more efficient and reduce their bills and carbon.
“We knew from talking to people that they often go to B&Q and buy low energy light bulbs, and go back home and it doesn’t fit or discover the light is too bright and they are disapponted.
“The idea of the library, it comes in a nice wheel case and has about 40 light bulbs with the sizes and prices, and you can take them home and try them before buying them.”
