Molesey returned to league action this Tuesday night with the visit of Sandurst to Walton Road.
The Moles were riding on a high after a recent up turn in form which has seen them rise up the table and most recently, progress to the first round proper of the FA Vase with a convincing 4-1 victory over Brockenhurst last Saturday.
Sandhurst Town were also coming off of a good win in the FA Vase having got a 2-1 win in the last round.
Molesey made only a few changes to the side that beat Brockenhurst with Ross Chalke coming in for James McShane and Jordan McCartney and Moses Spencer both coming in at centre back.
This meant a change in position for Luke Elliott who moved back to his regular position at left back.
The Moles came out of the traps like a bat out of hell at the start of this game and after just 55 seconds Molesey managed to open the scoring.
Moses Spencer found himself with the ball at the halfway line and his exquisite diagonal ball forward found Ashley Lodge on the far wing.
Lodge took the ball to the byline before hitting a low cross to the near post which found Lewis Ackerman barreling in and Ackerman managed to get just enough on his hot to deceive both the defender sliding in and Asen Agon in the Sandhurst goal.
Molesey were barely done celebrating when, just like on Saturday, Molesey took a two goal lead within the first few minutes.
This time Ian Lishmund on the near side wing passed forward to the edge of the box to Lewis Ackerman.
Ackerman played the ball back to Ross Chalke who swept the ball out to the far wing to Ashley Lodge.
Lodge hit a powerful strike at goal that was saved well by the Sandhurst 'keeper, however the ball fell into the middle of the box and right on top of Aimee Blessing who headed into the now unguarded net.
However, also like Saturday Molesey seemed to take their foot of the gas once they achieved their lead, and this resulted in Sandhurst dominating much of the rest of the half.
But even with all of the increased pressure Sandhurst were only able to make two chances in the first half. First of all one Sandhurst corner was swung in dangerously where the ball was met well in the middle of the box.
The ball was heading for goal at the back post before Ashley Lodge, who was having a busy first half, managed to get in the way of the ball on the line and head it clear.
The second chance saw Sandhurst's Dan Simmonds race clear of the Molesey back line but Simmonds was foiled by an excellant save from Colin Harris who went diving at Simmonds' feet.
Just as Molesey fans were thinking we would be lucky to reach half time at 2-0 Molesey suddenly broke on the counter attack and following pressure from Ian Lishmund the 'keeper totally miss hit the ball which fell to Ross Chalke who fired in a shot that took a slight deflection on its way into the empty net.
This meant that the game was all but over after the first half with Molesey not playing to their greatest for a lot of the half but still holding a commanding 3-0 lead.
Molesey weren't able to get themselves any more fired up at the start of the second half and Molesey managed to keep their lead only because Jon Palmers shot was well blocked by a sliding Luke Elliott.
Then three minutes later again Colin Harris was called into action when he got off of his line well and smothered the ball at James Mephams feet.
Molesey obviously didn't want to let Sandhurst back into the game and therefore turned it up just enough to stop the Sandhurst pressure without really creating any pressure of their own, and except for an Aimee Blessing shot that flew over from distance Molesey were not able to create any opportunities.
Doug Ford had to be replaced after 70 minutes when he received an elbow and the bleeding could not be stopped quick enough for him to continue and Rob Lewis came on to replace him.
Lewis found himself in an unfamiliar position but nonetheless he did a great job both defensively and even managed to charge forward down the ring well.
The last chance of the game fell to Louis Hibbert when he struck a free kick that Colin Harris managed to turn around the post.
Molesey saw out the rest of the game in relative comfort and cruised into full time to collect the full share of the spoils on the night over a decent Sandhurst team.
Moleseys next game is on Saturday where they face a trip to Knaphill in the Challenge Cup.
