Ambitious new Walton & Hersham boss Chuck Martini says he is out to wake a sleeping giant after taking over at Stompond Lane this week.
The 39-year-old Moroccan quit Ryman Division One South rivals Godalming Town on Tuesday to step in to the Swans hot seat in time for Saturday’s trip to Chatham Town.
The former Wycombe Wanderers keeper took Town to the play-off final and their first ever Surrey Senior Cup triumph last season, despite having to work on a shoestring budget at Wey Court.
And Martini, who has signed a two-year contract with a budget to match, is out to repeat the trick.
“Walton are willing to give me the tools to try to achieve my objectives and my ambitions and I’m excited to try to make it happen,” he said.
“It’s a sleeping giant and I’m glad they’ve given me the opportunity to wake it up.”
