Tram services were suspended this morning after a man was hit at Reeves Corner.
The man was walking along the track between Wandle Park and Reeves Corner when he was struck by the tram.
A London Ambulance Service spokesman said: “We were called at 4.22am today September 24, to reports of a road traffic collision involving a tram and a pedestrian on Reeves Corner.
“We sent a single responder in a car, an ambulance crew, the air ambulance's doctor in a car and a duty officer to the scene.
“Our staff treated one patient, a man, who was taken as a priority to St George's Hospital with a head injury. The patient was in a stable condition.”
A Transport for London spokesman said: “At 4.25am today a London Tramlink tram was in collision with a male pedestrian on a section of segregated track between Wandle Park and Reeves Corner.
“The LAS was called and the injured man was taken to hospital.
“The opening of the tram service on this part of the Tramlink network was delayed until 6.10am while police investigated the site.
“London Tramlink will also carry out its own investigation into the incident.”
