The Blues have made their best ever start to a season after making it nine wins out of nine at Walton & Hersham on Tuesday night.

Their threat was demonstrated inside four minutes when captain Steve Sutherland headed into the net only for the goal to be ruled out by a close offside flag.

Sutherland tried his luck again moments later from Tyron Smith’s corner, but his header was well over.

Brown then tested Swans keeper Dean Ruddy with an on-target 30 yard free kick.

From James Greenaway’s lay-off, Eddie Smith’s volley was blocked on the line.

The pressure had to tell eventually and, in the 35th minute, the on-fire Craig Brown ran around a defender before crossing for Eddie Smith who headed into the roof of the net.

The Swans attacked after the restart but Blues keeper Mo Maan was never really tested.

And the Blues made sure of the points in the 53rd minute.

Steve Sutherland drove the ball up field which was picked up by striker Craig Watkins.

He strode past two defenders by pure speed alone with a 40 yard run before once again not for the first time this season burying the ball into the roof of the net for the second goal.

It could have been three nil but a James Field drive hit the far post and then Vernon Francis saw his opportunist shot cleared off the goal line by the trailing leg of Dean Ruddy. Walton & Hersham to their credit kept battling right to the bitter end without any success.
