A shop was evacuated after a suspect package was posted through the door this morning.
Worried staff at First Choice on Sutton High Street called police after they found a package resembling a video tape and wrapped in a magazine, shoved through the letter box.
Officers were called just before 9am and immediately set up a police cordon of about 100 metres around the store.
Two employees from the travel agents were evacuated as police carried out tests.
But the x-rays showed the package was safe and the cordon was lifted after 10am.
Assistant manager Danielle Cox said her first thought was the suspect package was designed to delay the Art of Suburbia festival celebrating the redeveloped Sutton High Street this evening.
She said: "I then started to think maybe we were wasting police time, but the police have all been really nice."
