Leatherhead striker Greg Andrews has revised his goal target after his prolific start to the new season.

The 23-year-old is in the best form of his career, having got the winner in Tuesday night’s 2-1 win at bottom side Corinthian Casuals, as well as both from the spot in Saturday’s 2-1 win over Whitehawk.

Andrews, who works in road and pathway reinstatement, said: “I have scored eight in eight in the league now. I have started well and a bit of confidence does you a lot of good.

“I am playing with a smile on my face and scoring goals for fun.

“I set myself a target of 15 goals for this season but I am going to have to add five to that now. Scoring 20 in a season would be fantastic.”

Tommy Hutchings had got the Tanners’ first on Tuesday before Andrews’ winner.

He added: “The ball was laid back to me just outside the box and I smashed it past the keeper to his left-hand side.

“Tommy said to me that whenever he scores I seem to score too.

“He has four now but I have got to keep ahead of him. It is healthy competition.

“We have 12 between us but the others can chip in too if they want.”

Wimbledon-based Andrews is relishing being a first-team regular, having made a big impact since arriving at Fetcham Grove.

“I moved to Leatherhead last Christmas and scored 13.

“Last year was the most games I had played. I have been at four clubs in Ryman Division One but never really had a chance at them.

“Now I am really enjoying myself – and enjoying doing these interviews!”

Four straight wins have left the Tanners, beaten play-off finalists last season, second in Ryman League Division One South behind Met Police.

“After getting to the play-offs last year we are hoping for promotion this time around,” added Andrews.

Tanners’ next three games: Sept 25 Faversham Town (h), 28 Ramsgate (h), Oct 2 Enfield Town (h).
