Commuters could have a morning rush hour train extended from a four-car to an eight-car train.
MP for Carshalton and Wallington Tom Brake said Southern agreed that the 8.38am from Wallington to London Bridge would be lengthened if additional rolling stock could be found.
He said Southern have also confirmed they would look to see whether some off-peak direct trains to London Bridge could be restored.
Mr Brake said: “No one likes to start their working day off crammed into a train like it’s a cattle truck.
“Commuters should be able to travel in safety and relative comfort.
“However, this really is just a stop-gap measure. What is really needed is the restoration of off-peak services to London Bridge and residents in Carshalton and Wallington have been disproportionately affected by the recent changes to the train timetable.’”
Following the extension of the East London Line, direct trains to London Bridge from Sutton via Sydenham were withdrawn on May 23.
