Three containers of arrows worth thousands of pounds were stolen from an archery club.
The burglary happened at an archery club in Epsom, in Reigate Road, sometime between 12pm on Monday, September 20 and 1.50pm on Wednesday, September 22, when offenders cut through a number of fences and padlocks to get to the containers.
Plastic tubes, which were stored in secure wooden racks, containing 460 aluminium arrows were stolen. It is estimated the arrows were worth approximately £3,000. No bows were stolen.
Epsom Neighbourhood Sergeant Shane Craven said: “There is nothing to indicate this was a targeted burglary and it’s likely the offender didn’t realise what was stored inside the building. I would appeal to anyone with any information regarding this burglary to come forward.
“Arrows are very unusual items to steal, especially this quantity, therefore I would ask anyone who may be offered them for sale, perhaps specialist archery shops, to contact Surrey Police as they may have originated from this burglary. We do not believe there is a risk to the community and it is likely the arrows will be sold for their scrap metal value"
Anyone with any information relating to this incident should contact Surrey Police on 0845 125 2222 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
