A folk singer has embarked on a global collaboration for a good cause.
Tanja Maritsa, from Wimbledon, has teamed up with one of Iraq’s biggest musicians to record a charity single in aid of victims of conflict in the country.
Miss Maritsa and Naseer Shamma have recorded a cover of Sting’s song Fragile, available on iTunes, to raise cash for Mr Shamma’s charity Tareek Al Zahuur Community – which gives children access to food, healthcare and education.
Miss Maritsa said the pair collaborated after meeting in Cairo.
She said: “We can help alleviate the pain of at least a few of Iraqi children and a generation that knew war can at least start to enjoy peace.”
