A new primary school has been given the green light by Government and is set to open in September 2011.
The Crescent Primary School will be located on the site of the old Selhurst High School after a £7m make over which is set to begin next year.
The outside of the beautiful old Edwardian building will be retained while the inside will be completely refurbished.
An open evening for prospective parents and residents eager to find out more about the new school will take place between 4.30pm and 8pm on Tuesday October 5.
Visitors will be able to meet the Headteacher and Governors, as well as the planners and architects responsible for the transformation of the site.
Jane Fairbourn, the Headteacher Designate, said: “This is a very exciting time and there is a lot to do before the school opens to its first pupils next September but I am really looking forward to getting to know and welcoming our first families.”
Parents with children aged 3 by August 31, 2010 must apply for a primary school place for next September. Croydon Council’s deadline for school applications is January 15. For more information, visit www.croydonchoiceadvice.co.uk.
