Motorists are being given advanced warning that a section of one of Hackbridge’s main roads is to close overnight this weekend.
The A237 London Road will be shut at 11pm on Saturday (2 October) until 6am on Sunday (3 October) as part of the £4m scheme to replace the 150-year-old London Road bridge.
Diversions will be put in place so drivers can avoid the area.
There will be a further overnight closure on from 11pm on Saturday 9 October to 6am the following morning.
Two weeks after that, there will be a full weekend closure to allow multi-tonne support beams to be swung into place. This will start at 11pm on Friday 22 October, with the road not reopening until 6am on Monday 25 October.
