Businesses terrified by tax or concerned about their cash flow can help get a grip on their finances at Fairfield Halls.

Members of Her Majesty’s Revenue and Customs will be on hand to offer tips on how to cope with tax matters and save time through online services at the Business Advice Open Day on September 29.

The tax service will be joined by exhibitors from a host of other organisations including the Federation of Small Businesses, the Intellectual Property Office and the Health and Safety Executive.

HMRC hopes the event will help everyone from new businesses to well established companies find new customers, meet their liabilities and negotiate their way through the sometimes complex tax system.

Topics due to be covered include the HMRC’s business payment support service, which can allow companies to delay tax payments during difficult times, and how people can compete for the contracts still on offer at the 2012 London Olympics.

HMRC Business Liaison Team manager Roger Lovell said: “It’s inevitable that some people will find tax issues daunting, or be worried about meeting their liabilities during today’s tough times.

“This event allows us to bring our advice directly into the heart of Croydon and offer practical assistance where it is needed.

“HMRC runs a number of schemes to make tax as hassle free as possible, and engages with our customers.

“And our attitude has always been to assist businesses in short term difficulty so that we can help keep viable businesses afloat.

“Our partner organisations will also be on hand to explain their services and how they can help small and medium sized enterprises.”

No appointment is needed to attend the event, which runs between 8.45am and 5pm, although places at popular seminars cannot be guaranteed.
