Struggling with coins could be a thing of the past as pay-by-phone parking is being introduced to Sutton.
The quick and easy to use system will enable residents to pay over the phone using a credit or debit card instead of using cash in council car parks from October 4.
The service, which costs an additional 20p, offers a text reminder which notifies customers 10 minutes before parking time is due to expire.
Cash payments will still be possible for those that do not own or prefer not to use a credit or debit card.
Simon Wales, Sutton Council’s transport spokesman, said: “We hope that this will make parking easier and more flexible for residents and visitors to the borough, in line with our common sense approach to parking.”
To use the service simply park as usual, look for the RingGo signs which are shown on the machines nearby and call 020 3046 0010.
The first time using RingGo, you will be asked to provide details of your vehicle, location and payment card, which can take a couple of minutes.
