A Tooting man helping the relief effort for Pakistan flood victims is encouraging people not to forget about the troubles Pakistanis are still facing.
Shaun Edgerley, 28 has been in Pakistan for seven weeks helping the people of Multan in the South West Punjab region.
Shaun, who works for the Department for International Development (DIF) has been sent across the world helping people in Haiti, Gaza, and also in Pakistan when troubles flared with the Taliban.
His latest involvement in Pakistan has shown how badly the people of Pakistan are still being affected by the recent floods.
He said: “The problem is trying to get your head around the sheer scale of it because you just get knocked back even more.
Some kids are already malnourished and now they have got this on top of them.”
Britain was hailed as the most generous nation with millions of pounds of aid and money being sent over to the affected areas and it is something that Shaun has witnessed first hand.
He said: “I am going to see a healthcare centre that has been created with the money from the Disasters Emergency committee.”
If you want to help in the relief effort you can send donations to the Disasters Emergency Committee by calling 0370 60 60 900 or text 70707 with the word GIVE to donate £5, alternatively you can donate online at http://www.dec.org.uk/.
