Surbiton’s streets were heaving with festival-goers on Saturday, September 25, for the popular Surbiton Festival.
Organised by Surbiton Rotary Club, the festival kicked off at 10am when mayor of Kingston Councillor Chrissie Hitchcock officially opened the event.
More than 100 stalls selling everything from cards to beauty products lined Victoria Road, making it the biggest festival ever.
David Randall, of Surbiton Central Area Residents’ Association said: “It was super. The streets were filled, I’d say about 25,000 people were there. Lots of fun was had by everyone.”
Some of the attractions included salsa dancing on stilts, a morris dancers, swing bands and vintage police vehicles.
The station’s forecourt also hosted Punch and Judy shows, which entertained the adults as much as the children.
Bridie the Irish tea lady and her 7ft tea trolley made a welcome return, while the grand parade made its way down St Mark’s Hill.
Participants this year included Sealion Sea Scouts, British Legion Marching Band, Surbiton Car Club, 1st Hook Band and other scout groups.
