A few members from Woodmansterne Evening W.I. went along to the the Surrey Federation Autumn Meeting at Dorking Halls on Monday 27th September, to support Elizabeth Fisher, who for many years was a member of their institute and whilst there had held the posts of Secretary and President.
Elizabeth did a brilliant job by providing the members with a very entertaining day, including some very interesting speakers – Alan Scadding gave a fascinating talk about Epsom College past and present, also reflecting about former scholars who have acclaimed to fame in many directions; and Dr Lucy Worsley, Chief Curator of Historic Palaces, who enlightened them in an amusing way about where the royals lived and what they got upto in bygone days!! They finished the day by rocking in their seats listening and joining in with songs from the 50s & 60s, performed by Richard Colwell.
